FAQs
Question: Do you have a breeders license?
Answer: Yes, "Huff's Hounds" is licensed by the state of Georgia. We are routinely inspected by the state of Georgia in order to insure that our breeding practices are exemplary. Our dogs, puppies, and property are also routinely examined by the American Kennel Club (AKC). We have always received a perfect score from the AKC. Buyer's should beware of kennel's that operate without a license. Regardless of whatever creative excuse they may offer, they are breaking the law, and there is no oversight of their breeding program.
Question: Do you provide a health guarantee?
Answer: Yes, we provide a 5-year health guarantee against life threatening congenital/hereditary health problems. All of our puppies are properly dewormed and vaccinated prior to leaving our premises, but we cannot guarantee that the puppy will not contract an airborne illness, nor can we guarantee that the puppy will be completely free of intestinal parasites (worms). Buyers must continue to vaccinate their puppy, and continue to deworm the puppy after taking the puppy to its new home.
Question: How old will my puppy be when I pick him/her up?
Answer: You must wait until your puppy is 8 weeks old before you pick him/her up. It is illegal to sell a puppy before they are 8 weeks old in the state of Georgia. Additionally, we believe it is in the puppies best interest of the puppy for him/her to remain with his/her mother, and siblings, until they are 8 weeks old.
Question: Can you keep my puppy past the scheduled pick up date?
Answer: Yes, we ususally can. However, the final payment will be due the day the puppy turns 8 weeks old. You can mail a check or make the payment via paypal.
Question: What type of Dog/Puppy Food do you feed the dogs/puppies at "Huff's Hounds"?
Answer: We feed Diamond Natural Lamb & Rice to our adult dogs, and Diamond Natural Large Breed Puppy to all of our puppies. We also supplement our puppies with Chicken Soup for Puppy can food.
Question: Do you deliver puppies?
Answer: We can deliver your puppy to your doorstep. The price is not predetermined, as we attempt to keep the cost as low as possible for each buyer. You can contact us to get a quote for delivery.
Question: Who owns and operates "Huff's Hounds"?
Answer: The Huff Family is pictured below, with a brief description of who we are.
The first thing, and most important thing, to know about our family is that we are Christians. Proverbs 12:10 states, "A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal." Our objective is to have happy and healthy dogs, and the result will be happy customers. We sincerely try to always abide by the golden rule (Do unto others as you would have them do unto you) in our dealings with other people, which certainly includes our family breeding operation. Doing what is right, and making sure the buyer is pleased with their overall experience is of utmost important to us.
A little bit about us . . . Ben currently serves as the pastor at Hunter's Creek Baptist Church in Carnesville, Georgia. Jennifer, is a full-time mom, and stays very busy raising the four boys: Bentley (7), Hudson (6), Tucker (3), and Ace (1). She is also busy tending to the dogs and puppies. The boys each "own" two dogs each; and love "helping" with the daily dog chores.
We started raising basset hounds in 2009, simply because we love the breed and knew they would be great with our kids. It has been a match made in heaven for us. Our dogs are regular visitors to "Royston Animal Hospital" where they receive health checkups, and vaccinations. If you have any questions about our dogs, puppies, or business practices feel free to give us a call, send us an email, or a quick text. If we do not have the puppy that you are looking for, we will be glad to help you a find a breeder who does. Thanks, and God Bless.
